A 7 Day Culinary Feast Around The Bahamas
Crystal Cruises is Offering Gourmet Dining On The Seas
Many cruise ships that tour the Bahamian islands usually allow visitors to get a taste of New Providence, Grand Bahama or surrounding private cays. But, Crystal Cruises differs from many of its sailing counterparts by offering luxury sailing around the entire Bahamas, complete with spacious accommodations, and a number of fine dining restaurants.
One of the unique features of Crystal Cruises Serenity voyage is that guests can board in Miami, Bimini, or New Providence, making the ship an ideal vacation for both international visitors and domestic tourists who want to experience the full gamut of Bahamian culture. With stops in Exuma, Long Island and San Salvador, Serenity gives a glimpse into the bustling capital as well as the more quiet and laid back family islands.
New Providence, Bimini, Exuma, San Salvador and Long Island all have rich history, unique architecture, stunning natural beauty, and their own unique cultural elements, but that is a robust story worthy of a separate post. Stay tuned for PART 2: A 7 Day Cultural Experience
The Crystal Cruises brand is synonymous with luxury. Each guest is welcomed aboard with a glass of sparkling wine, and the team is exceptionally warm, welcoming, and personable while still maintaining a sense of individuality. The vibe is very relaxed, with nightly shows, a full service spa and fitness center, wellness classes, a library, and an impressive line up of restaurants and menu options.
Guests can enjoy flavourful and expertly prepared meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as daily afternoon tea, and even a specialty restaurant by world famous chef, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. All soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, mini bar options, room service delivery and restaurants are also included, with the exception of private wine pairing dinners and vintage wines, which can be purchased separately.
While Crystal Cruises’ Serenity voyage includes several casual options, including the Marketplace, Trident Grill, the Scoops Icecream bar, and The Bistro Coffee Bar, below is an overview of the ship’s main restaurants.
WATERSIDE - This is the ship’s main dining room. No reservations are needed to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Waterside, but that does not mean that the meals served there are not memorable or special. Umi Uma, Prego, and Silk are considered specialty restaurants, with fixed seasonal menus, while Waterside’s offerings change daily, and include an array of classic and modern cuisine. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast before heading ashore, consider giving their Japanese set breakfast, which includes grilled fish, steamed rice, and picked vegetables, a try. The complete Waterside menu is also available for room service during meal service hours.
UMI UMA & SUSHI BAR - Those who are familiar with the unique flavours of the Nobu brand, will find some familiar favourites on the Umi Uma menu. Reservations are required for this specialty restaurant, which features inventive Japanese-Peruvian cuisine from world renowned chef, Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa.
CHURRASCARIA - The Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse serves up flavour packed cuisine, complete with a large selection of Brazilian meats (that are served tableside), salads, side dishes, cocktails, and desserts. Also, it may be tempting to fill up on the warm, fluffy Pão de Queijo aka cheese bread or Caipirinha cocktails, but be sure to save room for the many other amazing dishes.
SILK KITCHEN & BAR - Silk’s Chinese inspired cuisine infuses east Asian spices with ingredients like truffles, snow crab, and other seafood options to create flavourful dishes that don’t shy away from a bit of heat!
PREGO - Who doesn’t love Italian cuisine? Prego is one of the ship’s specialty restaurants that offer authentic Italian cuisine, complete with a wide selection of pastas and regional dishes.
THE PALM COURT - Each day, from 3:30-4:30 pm, the Palm Court lays out the white linens for afternoon tea. Guests are treated to a rotating selection of tea sandwiches, pastries, scones, teas and cocktails, along with a live violinist and pianist.
