From Parris with Love
A Bahamian Dream Wedding told by Parris
RD: Share with us the incredible journey of planning your dream wedding in the beautiful Bahamas, as a proud Bahamian!
Parris: Planning our wedding at home was both exciting and challenging. Our wedding planner, Dvanya Hinsey, proved to be an invaluable asset in orchestrating the most special day of our lives. Our wedding date was December 10, 2021. We had to adhere to pandemic protocols in The Bahamas, limiting attendance to just 50 people. So, you can only imagine the stress we went through with who would be invited in-person and who we would invite to tune in virtually.
Originally, we aimed for a November wedding, but the venue we had in mind was fully booked. Thus, December 10 became our chosen date, a mere six days after my 29th birthday. Throughout the planning process, I found myself wrestling with indecision, from selecting the venue and decor to deciding on my wedding gown and music. However, with my husband's unwavering support and flexibility, we navigated through these decisions together, ultimately crafting a celebration that truly reflected our love story.
Despite the challenges, our wedding day was a reflection of our love. It was a day filled with joy, laughter and cherished memories, a testament to our journey as a couple.
RD: Can you tell us about the venue you chose for your wedding and what drew you to that location?
Parris: We made the decision to host our wedding at the stunning Baha Mar Resort. What truly captivated me was the breathtaking wedding chapel. Since childhood, I had been enamoured with the scene from "A Walk To Remember," where Mandy Moore's character exchanges vows in a charming all-white chapel. Upon laying eyes on the wedding chapel at Baha Mar, I instantly knew it was the perfect place to say, "I do."
RD: Family is the heart and soul of Bahamian culture! ???? Can you dish on the special moments or cherished traditions with your loved ones that made your wedding day unforgettable?
Parris: What made the day truly unforgettable for me was having my father walk me down the aisle because we live in different countries and don't have the opportunity to see each other often. The fact that my father was able to be there amidst the challenges of the pandemic, made the moment all the more precious to me. It was a cherished memory that I will forever hold close to my heart.
RD: What made The Bahamas the one and only place where you wanted to say, "I do"?
Parris: It was never a question for us to choose any other destination for our wedding. The Bahamas holds a special place in our hearts as our home, and being able to celebrate our union in such a breathtakingly beautiful place was a dream come true.
