Did you know that mangroves play a crucial role in safeguarding The Bahamas' coastlines from tropical storms and hurricanes, provide vital protection for inland communities, and are essential habitats for marine life?

We invite you to learn more on a Missions for Mangroves-led mangrove planting and replenishment tour led by a local guide who's been trained as a Steward of the Environment.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The Mission for Mangrove experience is open to all! We offer round-trip transportation from local hotels and visiting cruise ships to the Waterkeepers Bahamas Mangrove Farm in Lucaya, just north of Garden of the Groves.

WHAT'S A PLANTING TOUR?

A Mission for Mangroves planting tour is a rewarding and delightful one-hour tour that allows visitors to help restore and replenish a natural ecosystem that provides sustenance to marine life and critical protections to the local coastal communities of Grand Bahama Island. Led by local guides who have undergone training in environmental conservation and mangrove management, these tours allow visitors to gain deep insight into one of the most unique and nutrient-rich ecosystems in the world.

What is the cost?

The tour is $75 per person, for a maximum of six (6) persons.

What day is the tour offered?

Tours are offered daily and can be booked from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

No, the tour is not wheelchair accessible. Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
