Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation Statement on Travel Health Visa Issues

NASSAU, Bahamas, December 15, 2021—The Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation is aware that some Bahamian citizens and residents returning home from abroad, who are not in possession of a travel health visa, are being denied boarding their flights.

This is unfortunate, but we are working to resolve this issue immediately.

The Ministry of Tourism communicated with all airlines through the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and gave a seven days’ notice that the health travel visa requirement for citizens and residents of The Bahamas would end as of Monday, December 13.

We have been advised by some airlines that their communication process can be slow in informing every agent, thus resulting in a delayed response and human error. IATA has informed us that the communication system has been updated in all airlines.

We encourage those persons experiencing difficulties returning home to call the Ministry of Tourism’s travel hotline at 1 (242) 604-7200, extensions 5006 and 5008, so that we may assist in clarifying the entry procedure for Bahamian citizens and resident
